What is a Humor U show like? whether you are young or old, BYU student or not, when you come to a show, you can expect to have an exceptional time. Even though Humor U is sponsored by BYU, it does not rely on LDS references to entertain. At each show you will see ten different Humor U comedians perform their own original stand-up comedy. All shows are live and last between seventy-five and ninety minutes. Sometimes they have a live band, slingshot t-shirts into the audience, or give away free stuff. Every show is all new material, except for off campus shows, or shows titled “Best Of. So if you came to the last show, the next show will be all new jokes. And since students are always graduating and alumni are always visiting, they usually have one or two new performers in each show. Humor U gauantees more laughs per minute than any other comedy club in the state. You won't find higher-value live entertainment in the valley.
Audience Quotes: "Our jaws hurt from laughing so much." "Greatest thing ever!" "Two things that keep me going...ice cream and the comedic genius of Humor U." "I have to admit that they are ridiculously funny." "I never laughed so hard." "Hot!" "It's like a wild bear attach of comedy and giggles." "I think I peed a little." "My husband and I came to Humor U on our first date. You guys are the reason we got married!!"
What is Humor U? Humor U is a club that provides BYU students specific focused opportunities to develop the gift of humor through writing, producing, and performing stand-up comedy. They produce a new show approximately every six weeks with four to eight shows on that week. All Humor U performers are BYU students who volunteer their time and talents, they receive no compensation or class credit. Humor U revenues are used to cover the costs of producing shows. Because of Humor U's large success, they are able to donate a portion of each show's revenues to charity.
What is Humor U's story? Humor U was started at BYU in the fall of 2006 by a few students who wanted a vehicle and opportunities to share their comedic talents. There were other comedy groups at BYU that performed sketch or improvisational comedy, but no place for stand-up. Humor U quickly attracted some of the funniest performers at BYU and since 2008 has had the largest crowds of any stand-up comedy club in Utah. Now, over one hundred people audition each year and Humor U performs sell-out shows for over fifteen hundred people in a weekend and over 12,000 people a year. Humor U's comedians win stand-up comedy competitions and perform at public and private shows across the country.
Can I join Humor U? If you would like to perform with Humor U, we invite you to come participate in one of our Open-mic auditions. Open-Mic are held four times a year.
